It's weird how a lot of Linux users you see online seem to be fine, excited even, about Valve's efforts to improve gaming on Linux. I for one am not excited, if gamers start to use Linux en masse developers will be forced to begin catering to the dumbest computer user demographic on the planet (gamers). Not excited about the way things are trending in the Linux space in general, with people excitedly abandoning all the things that make Linux great, and embracing junk like systemd, flatpaks/snaps/AppImages, wayland, other redhat/freedesktop crap. I see Gentoo and FreeBSD in my future. Gatekeeping and elitism are good things. If you want to do things like play games, there's an operating system for you, it's called Microsoft Windows, go back.

True true, I've long since stopped playing games on my machine, for the simple reason that they're proprietary software plus a gigantic waste of time!

As for Minecraft from what I can tell the developers just keep adding more pointless crap every update. and I also heard a little while ago that they added spyware to the game? Honestly surprised it took Microsoft that long to do that.

Is Minecrap still a thing? I thought it has fallen since the Orwellian update (version 1.19.84), and yes, it's a MALWARE (source code access denied), yet it still is crushing Luanti, preventing the latter from gaining traction despite Luanti respects your freedom (https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.html).

If you are hosting Invidious in the US or any other country that is bound to DMCA/Copyright laws, you probably want this if you don't want to get sued.

I have been getting copyright complaints from a company, asking me to "remove" or disallow access to some videos that I "host" (xd, they are not even hosted by me, I just proxy them) because is not my property.

Do you think I care if I'm from Chile? No. I just ignore them because it makes absolutely no sense.

The content they are claiming is a video that is not georestricted and anyone with internet access can access that content freely directly on YouTube. Accessing that video from my Invidious instance is not any different from accessing it through YouTube, so is just a stupid claim made by stupid people, and they are claiming it under DMCA and OCILLA (Online Copyright Infringement Liability Limitation Act), both United States laws. I'm not from the US, my ISP is not from the US, therefore, I don't care.

As a compromise, one can host your project somewhere else and then create an empty github repo with only README, pointing to your real repo.

This way you get the SEO benefits but not the vendor lock-in.

Don't forget to post many of your thoughts about decentralization on github because github loves and trains LLM using your data.

Yep, the "Network Effect" that can lead to proprietary entrapment (vendor lock-in) where if it's not Big Tech, it's irrelevant.

But, Dr. RMS will always be right all along: non-free (proprietary) = MALWARE (always), since it is the seed of Corruption where the developers are tempted to be the "Big Brother" (You don't pay for it, you ARE the product).

Example:
>>414 where Dr. Schestowitz exposed GH Copilot for mass GPL infringement, so much that a throwaway appeared to urge high-risk projects to move away

I've seen lots of successful projects that aren't on GitHub. If a software project is good, word will spread, and people will use it. If a project "needs" to be on GitHub, maybe it isn't all that good to begin with. Same way in that if a person really wants to talk to me they can send me an e-mail, call me on the phone, or send a letter, if they aren't willing to use something other than WhatsApp or some other proprietary social media platform then maybe they aren't actually worth talking to and keeping up with.

People that want to get into privacy (example: someone that has used Facebook, Google and WhatsApp their whole life) will try to read the article from TechRights (or at least that specific one from Cloudflare) and it will be pure nonsense for them; unless TechRights focuses on an already established set of privacy conscious people, I think it should use a more general language so everyone can understand it clearly and maybe put a note why it uses the name Clownflare instead of Cloudflare lollol

Does this even matter?, the project is open source MIT licensed, anyone can modify it if they don't like it, just like me https://git.nadeko.net/Fijxu/anubis-patches/src/branch/master/patches/0002-remove-images-from-captcha.patch

I agree that developing open source projects in a closed source platform owned by Microsoft is a bad idea, but sadly, literally, every developer has a GitHub account, is like Whatsapp, just because everyone is on there, you are forced to use that platform, otherwise, you will be isolated from everyone else.

She seems to have an agenda since she enforces "Code of Conduct" (sic, ed: Code of CENSORship) while outsourcing her code to Proprietary (MICRO$HAFT GitHub)

I'd say be wary of Anubis author.

I noticed you started using Anubis recently. Take a look here <https:> also PRs 702, 703, 704

-She made GNOME say something the project doesn't agree
-She tried to push her beliefs where it was unnecessary and disrespectful
-She still refuses to remove things in her code that is disrespectful, some are mere comments and serves no real purpose
-She refused to accept PRs, discuss changes, refuse dictionary definitions seemingly because of her ego
-After all that she locked conversations in the issue/PRs as a result nobody else can show support now

If she has a belief, there are other mediums/ways to express it, why like this?

This is unwelcoming and definitely not FOSS spirit.

Cloudflares captcha also gives a ton of false negatives
like 30% of sites just are inaccessible because of cloudflare bs unless you enable all cookies and give them all your data

Back then, inv.nadeko.net used to generate poToken and vis_data using usernames. But now only the backend generates such a thing. invidious.nerdvpn.de do the same but due to automatic backend switching, as soon as all backends recieve "This helps protect our community. Learn more", that instance is literally dead until "Rotating backends" fires every 2 minutes.

Can we "use" Anubis to, say, create a challenge token as a seed for the backend to generate poToken and vis_data?
Anubis will be brought up as soon as the /watch endpoint recieves "This helps protect our community" or any kind of GulagTube blockades and stick in there until the video loads (essentially a brute-force).
IDK if it will collide tho.

WARNING: INCOMPATIBLE WITH PARANOIDS, so snitch it (generate poToken with Anubis) deep into the /preferences page instead.
