yeah, i do know yt-dl/p bypasses invidious but its a compromise videos load faster and are higher quality but youtube sees your ip address, however i dont think its a big deal since i have a residential ip and it changes every few days and i never visist the official yt frontend

Last time i checked, ytdl/dlp always ignore the invidious link (and its proxy) you give it and instead connects to YT directly so you still lose privacy and you'll keep being affected by geo-blocking/age restrictions, lack extra features etc.

The annoying thing was that it does so automatically without warning or a toggle to turn it off. You use an invidious link and it converts it to a YT one since they dont' support invidious.

thanks again for providing your invidious instances & other services!

Could you please add a setting for increasing the maximum playback speed to at least 6x?
That'd be on the extreme end for me on really slow speakers, but 3-4x is normally possible and I don't like to have to use some addon for it.
Also, to limit the bandwith necessary for it, if the Video and Audio settings could be seperated (as it is possible for youtube via grayjay, allthough not always) one could comfortably set vid to just 480p and still get the better audio required for that playback speed.

youtube will implement ai-based (read: reliably unrelible) age gating to view some videos (prob. anything remotely controversial like existing restricted mode) in the usa
that will likely affect 2 backends and result in a traffic jump that will be slightly problematic.

nah you are fine. Tor is pretty solid, otherwise, you can use I2P or even yggdrasil, the problem is that literally no one uses yggdrasil and I think there is a low amount of twitter frontends hosted on I2P. But you have those options.

You can also use Calyx VPN which is a free VPN ran by the Calyx Institute, the ones that created CalyxOS. There is also Riseup VPN. The best ones being Mullvad and IVPN but you need to pay for those, but the service is excellent tho.

I found an issue with playing long videos. Whenever I change video quality of a long video or watch a different long video, the page freezes and Firefox says "This page is slowing down Firefox...". It does start to play after waiting a couple minutes, but this is kinda annoying.

Nadeko's (this here's) Redlib instance is still using that old Xe (Anubis) rather than go-away, which sways out locked-down Qubes OS, deadlocked Tor/Mullvad browsers, and the likes of ultra-paranoids, thanks to some web workers thingy.

With go-away, I can watch videos in the Invidious instance no problem.

Hi Fixju!

So I wanted to know how long I should wait before reloading. Basically for some videos, they don't seem to load on any instances (specially if I found them as a recommendation on other videos) but after a few minutes it does. I assume this is because that instance now has a new identity? Anyway, I just wanted to know how long I should wait between reloads.
