The content they are claiming is a video that is not georestricted and anyone with internet access can access that content freely directly on YouTube. Accessing that video from my Invidious instance is not any different from accessing it through YouTube, so is just a stupid claim made by stupid people, and they are claiming it under DMCA and OCILLA (Online Copyright Infringement Liability Limitation Act), both United States laws. I'm not from the US, my ISP is not from the US, therefore, I don't care.

I've seen lots of successful projects that aren't on GitHub. If a software project is good, word will spread, and people will use it. If a project "needs" to be on GitHub, maybe it isn't all that good to begin with. Back then, inv.nadeko.net used to generate poToken and vis_data using usernames. But now only the backend generates such a thing. invidious.nerdvpn.de do the same but due to automatic backend switching, as soon as all backends recieve "This helps protect our community. Learn more", that instance is literally dead until "Rotating backends" fires every 2 minutes.

Can we "use" Anubis to, say, create a challenge token as a seed for the backend to generate poToken and vis_data?
Anubis will be brought up as soon as the /watch endpoint recieves "This helps protect our community" or any kind of GulagTube blockades and stick in there until the video loads (essentially a brute-force).
IDK if it will collide tho.

WARNING: INCOMPATIBLE WITH PARANOIDS, so snitch it (generate poToken with Anubis) deep into the /preferences page instead.

This is literally nothing compared to other captcha systems like Google Captcha (tracks everything on your browser, non free), Cloudflare Turnstile (it may be a simple click, but too many false positives is non free), hCaptcha (I hate clicking stupid AI generated images, non free) and mCaptcha (unmaintained, uses a database, it doesn't work on Chromium based browsers for Android, free, but it sucks for now).

Anubis is light, easy to read and the javascript used is crystal clear.

About a week ago it would occasionally happen when a video ended and simply opening a new tab or navigating back allowed continued use of your fantastic service.

I completely understand the need to do *something* about the bot problem, but I'm having the same issue as all the rest of these: Current version of Anubis excludes ESR Firefox versions in base images for VMs and such, especially for Windows (Anubis dev claims Firefox ESR 115 is "ancient" and no longer supported; I have unexpired food in my kitchen that's older than Firefox ESR 115), so maybe at least roll back whatever Anubis update happened last week? An alternative would be better long-term, Anubis is fundamentally incompatible with online privacy for other reasons, but what these users are reporting is not an isolated issue.

Javascript is literally an RCE, being able to watch youtube on invidious with JS completely disabled was a mega flex, now its just "ight"

If we cant completely get back to no JS, I will have to become one of those "watches youtube with mpv"
or just a yt-dlp script that downloads all my subscribed channel's new videos and dumps them on an FTP server lol

Hopefully we can find a solution. I honestly wouldn't mind it being similar the guestbook captcha, make it a bit harder with more distortion maybe. Could even keep both and then just fallback to the "Old Captchas" when JS is disabled.
